This article explores the fundamentally questioning nature of the Greek view of the discipline of philosophy, showing how the influence of the Greeks –especially Plato and Aristotle– has echoed throughout the history of philosophy, particularly in key figures in modern and contemporary thought such as Nietzsche, Heidegger, Wittgenstein, Gadamer, Foucault and Badiou, all of whom are heirs –from their own distinct conceptual platform– of the ancient concept of philosophy as a discipline of questions.
